We Spotted The Jeep Grand Commander Testing In The US

Could this three-row Jeep be coming stateside after all?
The last time we saw the new Jeep Grand Commander it was leaked prior to its reveal at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show. Even though the US loves buying three-row crossovers, the Grand Commander is set to be built and sold in China only. The US will reportedly get its own three-row Jeep called the Grand Wagoneer. We pretty much gave up on the US getting the new Grand Commander, but we recently spotted a test car running around the US. Could the Grand Commander be coming stateside after all?
Even without any of the badges it is clear this is the Grand Commander. We do have one image of the interior as well, which looks perfectly production ready. The rear of the vehicle still has a single Jeep badge, but the front Jeep logo, Grand Commander side badges, Chinese letters on the tailgate, and the trim level badge have all been shaved. There is a likely chance that this could just be a test mule for the upcoming Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer. Though, it seems strange Jeep would use the body of a new China-only model without any further camouflage. It's difficult to tell without seeing what's under the hood.
The Chinese Grand Commander will use a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, which also powers the Wrangler. A US model would likely use larger engines ranging from the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 to the 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat engine. This car looks like it has been put through the ringer as indicated by the numerous scratches across the body. It isn't much to go off of, but seeing the Grand Commander testing in the US means it may not be for China only. Hat tip to Tyler for the pics!
