"WITH A RAPIDLY CHANGING GEOPOLITICAL AND ECONOMIC LANDSCAPE, WE ARE ESTABLISHING A LANDMARK SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM TO HELP NEW LEADERS MEET THE DEFINING CHALLENGES OF OUR TIME."
STEPHEN A. SCHWARZMAN
Chairman, CEO and Co-founder of Blackstone, Stephen A. Schwarzman founded the Schwarzman Scholars program in order to give the most talented future leaders the power to change the course of history. An active philanthropist, Mr. Schwarzman has personally donated $100 million to this effort and is leading a campaign to raise $250 million more to fully endow the program—the single largest charitable effort in China's history coming from largely international donors.
In both business and education, Mr. Schwarzman has dedicated his career to developing transformative solutions to some of the world’s great challenges. His charitable giving has included anchor support for the New York Public Library and sponsoring educational opportunity for talented children. His vision in designing Schwarzman Scholars was to create change at a global scale.

HELP SET A NEW COURSE IN WORLD AFFAIRS
The Schwarzman Scholars program’s $350 million endowment campaign represents a historic effort for Chinese higher education — the single largest philanthropic initiative undertaken in China by largely international donors.
The Schwarzman Scholars program is deeply grateful to every one of its dedicated early supporters whose generous partnership will strengthen the foundations of the program. They have all recognized that the program is the first of its kind in creating long-term investment in the future of Chinese-international relations via top-tier academic exchange, and consequently, strengthening the human connections that will encourage collaborative global competitiveness and lasting geopolitical stability.
Our donors’ gifts will enable each year 200 outstanding students from across the globe to gain unrivaled and deep exposure to China through intensive academic study, leadership cultivation, cultural exposure, and crucial relationship building with peers, faculty, and leaders within China and around the world. Our donors are furthering our mission by:
- Supporting a state-of-the-art physical environment that encourages academic excellence, leadership, and social and cultural immersion
- Sponsoring world-class faculty to teach and mentor students, and share their expertise on the international stage
- Underwriting innovative curriculum enrichment programs to meaningfully enhance and deepen students’ academic experience as well as extracurricular exposure to China
- Endowing fellowships to allow the brightest students from around the world to attend the program
