China scientists'create world's first sonic weapon' after Beijing lockdown

CHINA has reportedly developed a new "crowd control" weapon that could potentially be deadly to those in its wake amid concern over the country's rapidly advancing secret military projects.

Beijing was placed in a state of lockdown this week, with tourists told to stay indoors amid speculation surrounding Chinese weapons. This comes ahead of a military parade marking the 70th anniversary of the People's Republic of China. During the recent lockdown, witnesses spotted advanced military technology being moved through the capital – with the unidentified weapons causing concern. Among those identified were the new Chinese Type 15 light tanks, which are designed for mountainous warfare.

However, the tanks were all draped in new desert camouflage, raising speculation that Beijing could be considered a troop deployment.

Tanks were not the only point for speculation, with a variety of weaponry moving through the capital draped in concealing material.

According to the South China Morning Post, Beijing has developed a new crowd control weapon to quash dissenting protestors at home.

This comes as Hong Kong protests wane but persist, with residents of the city furious with an extradition bill that would see Hong Kongers put to trial in Mainland China.

After the handover in 1997, Hong Kong became China's responsibility rather than the UK's, under an agreement that preserved Hong Kong's sovereignty and control over some of its laws.

Crucially, Hong Kong was promised legislative independence and universal suffrage, which they believe is under threat due to Xi Jinping's eagerness to stamp his authority on the region.

China has never treated the resistance with leniency however, and their latest weapon would be yet another forceful clamping down on opposition.

Reportedly, Chinese scientists have invented the world’s first sonic weapon to control people by causing bodily discomfort.

The rifle-shaped instrument, which was jointly developed with military and law enforcement, is designed to disperse crowds using focused waves of low-frequency sound.

While the weapon can be restricted to certain levels of effect on those in its crosshairs, the device is capable of serious biological harm.

The weapon can allegedly cause extreme discomfort, with vibrations in the eardrums, eyeballs, stomach, liver, and brain.

Studies dating to the Forties found that low-frequency sound energy could cause dizziness, headaches, vomiting, bowel spasms, involuntary defecation, organ damage, and heart attacks.

There are no accounts of any such weapon being put to action yet, but its development sets a worrying precedent for the lengths Xi Jinping and his ruling party will go to in order to enforce conformity in China.
