NEW ILLUMINATION SUMMER NIGHT MARKET DEBUTS THIS MAY
The summer is looking a lot brighter in Richmond this year with the introduction of the new “Illumination Market” that will replace last year’s Panda Market. The Illumination Night Market will feature the first ever, largest summer lighting show in North America with nine different themes, copious lanterns, and unprecedented scale. Various exquisite dazzling lanterns will be displayed throughout the market, weaving a colorful sparkling world.
The new market will debut this Friday, May 5, marking the start of night market season in Vancouver! The Illumination Night Market will be held behind Home-Depot, just west of Knight Street Bridge in Richmond. For the first weekend, May 5 – May 7, you can enjoy free admission to experience the new market for yourself!
As well as a fully LED-lit, 17-metre-tall Eiffel Tower —which drivers will be able to see while on the Knight Street Bridge — there will be a “world travel theme” with global landmark buildings and thousands of lights and food to match.
Fun passports will also be given out to the public to collect stamps at various vendors to eventually exchange for gifts.
Aside from the new illumination lantern experience, the night market will feature over food and merchandise booths. These include lots of socks, phone accessories, beauty products, stuffed animals and so much more.
The 200+ merchandise booths will have varied goods from different countries and a game zone with lots of fun. There will also be 60 food booths with delicious, authentic worldwide snacks.
Keep your eyes and ears open for all of the performances that will be happening throughout the summer. There will also be a “teddy bear theme” throughout the market with 30 custom-made teddy bears with different poses and looks scatter among the park.
