DHARAMSHALA, Sept 29: A Tibetan monk named Lodoe from the Jonang monastery in Dzamthang County in Eastern Tibet (Sichuan Province) was arrested by the police on June 14 from a market in the neighboring Barkham County, also in the Sichuan province has been held incommunicado in a Chinese prison.

An unnamed source cited by RFAmentioned, “He was taken away in handcuffs without explanation and has been held in custody ever since. His monastery and family and relatives have repeatedly asked the authorities for information about him, but have never received any answers.”

The 36 year old native of Ngatoe Tsida village in Sichuan Province’s Ngaba County has now been held incommunicado for over three months. “This is a very frustrating situation, and his family and relatives are deeply concerned about his welfare and current condition,” the source further added.

Jonang Monastary had earlier seen a few self immolation protests. The charges for his arrest and his current condition and whereabouts remain unknown.
