BRITAIN’S street signs and London’s iconic Tube map are to be printed in Chinese to lure thousands of new tourists.

A lack of Chinese signs has been identified as a “key issue” in attracting big-spending visitors from the Far East — because so few speak English.
A drive to recruit Mandarin-speaking guides will be part of a bid to make Britain “the most welcoming European destination for Chinese visitors by 2015” according to national tourism agency Visit Britain.
London Mayor Boris Johnson said: “It’s critical we recognise the importance of this vital and growing market.
“We’ll certainly look at the possibility of providing translations of Tube maps.”
