Asian gang networks in Canada revealed at immigration hearing

Asian gang networks in Canada revealed at immigration hearing

I Man Lai, youngest daughter of Lai Tong Sang, at immigration hearing

Evidence at Tuesday’s immigration hearing into the status of long-time Vancouver resident Lai Tong Sang showed the web of Asian triads operating in B.C.
Canadian Press was there for our newspaper and reported that Lai himself was not at the hearing because he was out of the country and listening in over the phone. His family was present as former Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit Insp. Pat Fogarty testified about how he first learned of Lai’s links to organized crime.
Forgarty said police learned of a contract out on Lai because details of it were being discussed on wiretap.
It was 1996 and Lai had just immigrated with his family. The Canada Border Services Agency now wants the Immigration and Refugee Board to find Lai inadmissible because he didn’t disclose his criminal links.

[They look confident don't they, even smirking to the cameras ..me]
