Communications intelligence website goes offline
Thursday, July 2, 2015
The website for Canada’s signals intelligence agency is the latest Canadian government-affiliated website to go offline in an apparent cyberattack.
The Communications Security Establishment (CSE) was offline Thursday morning, after what may be the same kind of denial-of-service attacks that recently targeted other federal government websites.
Earlier this week, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) website went offline three times within 24 hours. A rogue hacker using the name “Aerith” has claimed responsibility for the CSIS outages.
This is the first time the CSE website, which is administered by National Defence, has gone offline in the latest round of cyberattacks.
