ULTRA RICH ASIAN GIRLS VANCOUVER REALITY SHOW PREMIERING SOON

ULTRA RICH ASIAN GIRLS VANCOUVER REALITY SHOW PREMIERING SOON

 Oct 10 2014

Vancouver’s latest reality show, HBICtv: Ultra Rich Asian Girls, will be launched sometime over the next few weeks after a highly successful casting call over the summer.
The casting video went viral on multiple online platforms, drawing 300,000 views on YouTube and 2.8 million in China.
The web-based reality series, produced by local television producer Kevin Li, explores the lives of the daughters of affluent, Mandarin-speaking Chinese-Canadians living in Vancouver.
But how rich are the women exactly? At the moment, no information has been made public ahead of the launch, except that they have inherited large fortunes.
They are deemed to be young independent women starting their lives and careers with the newest Hermes Birkin bags and Yves Saint Laurent shoes while vying for the status of “HBIC” – the “Hot B*tch In Charge.”
China has been poor throughout most of the communist government’s reign, but capitalist economic policies over the last 25 years have turned the tide of the nation’s fortunes. As China races to become a global economic superpower, Chinese consumer culture has flourished. In the process, China’s newly rich are flaunting their wealth at home and around the world as a measure of social status.
This is the third attempt of a Vancouver-based lifestyle reality show in recent years. Slice TV’s Real Housewives of Vancouver was canceled last year after two seasons while the non-conformist, frugal Real Hipsters of Vancouver never made it to air.
Here are exclusive sneak peek photos of the Chinese-Canadian women participating in the Ultra Rich Asian Girl series:

This poor Asian girl of Vancouver disapproves

If you are power by parents then you aren't independent......

    I have a better idea:
Deport 30 rich Asian girls to Somalia and record what becomes of them, and how far money can get them.

This will cause no backlash at all.

Kevin Li is the typical CBC (Chinese Born Canadian) that thinks these kinds of things can draw popular attention to him. Hey! Its hilarious right?! HAHAHAHA
He laughs about it and makes uneducated arguments about his belief of what the view of Chinese people are by non-Asians - just to profit from the exploitation of a few shameless privileged Chinese from the mainland.
He has serious disregard to how he or his BS antics is making his own race look bad.
As a Chinese I am ashamed of this show and Kevin Li representing the Chinese race.

What the actual eff? Im Taiwanese...but these girls...are just....if you're rich then at least dress better. they just look sooo tacky. This is such a disgrace....ruining reputations of asians. and the sad thing is that non-asians can't tell us apart and they all think we're all from China...but we're not.

most asian girls i've ever seen here in vancouver do not dress like how these spoiled bimbos are dressing. They are doing this for the attention on the show. Wearing all those huge ugly hats and face nets make them look so fake.

That was filmed at the Deighton Cup where all the sad little nouveau riche types go and that's the expected attire at that event. They all think that's how people dress when they attend the Kentucky Derby or race days in the UK. Between this and Diner en Blanc I don't know which event is more eye roll inducing.

The picture is from Hastings Race Track. They're wearing those "huge ugly hats and face nets" because, as the background and the other individuals in it would indicate, the picture was taken at the Deighton Cup. It's a derby themed event and hats were part of the costume.

as a non-Asian I also find it rude and inappropriate to generalize all Asians as Chinese.
Personally i feel if you don't know, don't speculate. You don't generally hear people referring to all white people as Ex. German - we are just white.

I'm a white female and can most def tell Asians apart... helps that I live in Richmond and work in a mainly Asian-populated school lol. These girls are nothing like the Chinese families I know :| It's pretty depressing that this show would get made when everyone who actually lives here knows there's a burgeoning "us VS them" mentality because of our screwed up housing market. This is just going to fuel the anger, bigotry, and divisions that so many people already feel. Sucks for all the hard-working, humble, down-to-earth Asians who make up most of the population... X( All in the name of entertainment, I guess....

What a racist concept to boot.

Sad those with immense wealth are unable to do more for humanity than shop. This is "Junk Food" realty show entertainment. This spotlight is not on real people who are silent heroes. Instead this group is investing their time and talent in selling narcissism. True wealth is not what you wear but what you do.

Wow. This totally won't stereotype everyone in China at alllllll. Especially not in a country where more then 13% people live below the national poverty line or the 27% that live on less then 2$ a day...

China: where you're either a rich corrupt snob or an uncultured bumpkin who pisses into trashcans in malls.

      • Avatar

I think you were referring to the 'uncultured bumpkim' as yourself. It's okay, we all get a little confused about ourselves sometimes, it's all part of growing up.

        • Avatar

no - Jeebus is referring to chinese.

I've seen that. I guess both you and Michael Johnson can be grouped into that category of 'uncultured bumpkins' with Jeebus if you base your impression of Chinese people on that. Just because there are about 5 pictures of Chinese children and people publicly urinating or defecating, it doesn't represent the entire Chinese population that consists of 1.3~ billion people.

            • Avatar

Well if you've seen it then you know what he was referring to.
I do NOT base my impression on any group of people based on a single photograph. Ever.
All Germans are Nazis, all American's are red necks, all Arabs are terrorists, all whites are oppressors. .. nah. I don't fall into that uncultured bumpkin catagory.
You might just be as closed minded as you think I am. But it's ok to be confused about ourselves from time to time. It's all a part of growing up.

              • Avatar

You acknowledged the fact that that's what he was referring to and his statement is clearly meant to be offensive to Chinese people. So you agree with him then? That all Chinese people are either "a rich corrupt snob or an uncultured bumpkin who pisses into trashcans in malls"? If what you say is true, that you do not base your impression on any group of people based on a single photograph, then I apologize. Perhaps we can both agree that Jeebus is really just the uncultured bumpkim here then.

          I guess you missed this.

      Wrong~
Your statistics seemed to be outdated. In 2013, only 10% of China's population live on less than $1 a day. It should be even less now. (Source: The Economist)
Not that this show does not stereotype the Chinese, just pointing out a flaw in your data.

These girls were probably not in Canada five years ago. Another poor second generation Asian here.
