TO his boss he was known as Mr Pink.
But while his nickname may seem at odds with his image as a bouncer, debt collector and son of a leading bikie gang boss, Dallas Fitzgerald told a jury yesterday they "called me Mr Pink because my whole bedroom was pink. I like the colour pink".
The 30-year-old martial arts expert is standing trial for being part of the attempted theft of $150 million of superannuation funds from JP Morgan. Fitzgerald is accused of conspiring to launder $20 million through a Hong Kong bank account.
It was his boss, Sydney crime figure and strip club owner Tony Vincent, and his son Jamieson Vincent who called him Mr Pink in a police phone tap made on the day of a sophisticated international bank heist in 2003.
He claims he is innocent because he did not know the money was proceeds of crime.
Fitzgerald admits he went to Hong Kong on December 27, 2003, where he met up with David He and others including another associate Yi Zhang who was dubbed "Fat Boy". He says he met Mr He in Sydney through his then-girlfriend Angel, the daughter of a wealthy Chinese family.
Fitzgerald had also had meetings with Gary Peterson, dubbed "Fat Bastard", who is alleged to have organised the fraud with Mr Vincent senior and to have known someone working inside JP Morgan.
Mr Vincent senior and his son Jamieson have both pleaded guilty to their role in the fraud and were jailed.
The jury is expected to retire to make their decision later this week.
