Institute Director joins
National Conversation on Asia's Futures Group on
Asia
Institute Director was invited to join Asia Pacific Foundations of Canada’s (APFC) Futures Group on Asia. The group, in support of the APFC ’s National Conversation on Asia (NCA) initiative, will provide thought leadership in the development of innovative Canadian policy responses to the rise of Asia and to help Canadians develop a fuller appreciation of Asia’s significance for Canada’s future prosperity. Paul Beamish, an award-winning researcher at Ivey, has reached a milestone in his publishing career. Beamish has just had his 100th research paper accepted for publication. The paper, “Geographic and Product Diversification in Charitable Organizations,” co-authored with Ivey PhD graduates Geoff Kistruck of Ohio State University and Israr Qureshi of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, will be published in the Journal of Management in 2011. In addition to learning his 100th paper would be published, Beamish also had his 50th book published and saw the graduation of the 25th PhD student he has supervised, all in 2010. With no plans to slow down, Beamish has another dozen or so articles in review. “I’m as curious as ever about how things work and still enjoy the research process,” he said. An Ivey faculty member since 1987, Beamish also holds the Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in International Management and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Academy of International Business and Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. Game-changing economic and political upheaval signal the need for new styles of international business leadership. As a politician, economist, business leader and member of the Queen’s Privy Council, David Emerson is positioned to offer insight on developing international markets amid a rapidly-changing global economic landscape and the critical questions and challenges business people should be thinking about. On Thursday, January 27, 2011, he will discuss how Canada’s new high-level connections with growing emerging world powers, such as China and India, will have a significant impact on Canada’s future international business relationships. Click here to view the presentation. Former Dean of Ivey Asia Dr. Larry Wynant examines China’s growing impact on global capital markets in Canada, U.S., and Europe to fund its growth and build its global profile. He highlights four case studies that illustrate what attracts companies to raise capital abroad and what the trade-offs are in deciding on a global capital issue. The full summary and case studies published by the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada can be accessed here.

Keeping an eye on Communist, Totalitarian China, and its influence both globally, and we as Canadians. I have come to the opinion that we are rarely privy to truth regarding the real goal, the agenda of Red China, and it's implications for Canada [and North America as a whole]. No more can we rely on our media as more and more information on China is actively being swept under the carpet - not for consumption.
