POISONOUS dolls from China intended to be opened by kids on Christmas morning have been seized amid fears they could kill.

Border Force staff intercepted the cheap toys at British port Felixstowe, and found them to contain toxic chemicals and choking hazards.
Despite the dolls carrying bogus CE safety stickers, all the Christmas toys failed to meet basic EU safety standards.
One type of doll was found to have soft plastic shoes made of toxic chemicals, which could have poisoned any child who put them in their mouth.
Others had serious choking hazards from zips, battery compartments and stuffing which was easily pulled apart and could have been swallowed.
He revealed that shipments are usually only investigated if the paperwork is not in order, although toys, elections goods and cosmetics are subjected to extra scrutiny.
But he acknowledged: “It would be difficult for any agency to examine anything but a very small proportion of the containers arriving at the port each year.
“Therefore we base our examinations on those which we consider to pose the greatest safety risk to consumers.
Some manufacturers try and get around the increased inspections by lying about what is inside their containers.
MirrorpixMr Reed added: “There is only so much we can do. We have to be extra vigilant.
“But I feel satisfied we stop so much from getting through.
“We’re on the front line here, protecting consumers.”
Recently a shipment of manicure kits from China were found to have faulty plugs.
