News & Announcements Education Excellence Award from the Canada China Business Council               Ivey has received the inaugural Education Excellence Award from the Canada China Business Council  (CCBC) for outstanding achievements in expanding Canada’s relationship with China through education, research, alumni relations and student/faculty exchanges. Ivey was unanimously chosen by independent judges to receive the Gold Award in the education category.  The award was presented by His Excellency Zhang Junsai, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Canada at a gala event in Montreal. Paul Beamish, Director of Ivey’s Asia Management Institute and Engaging Emerging Markets Centre, and Jan De Silva, Associate Dean, Ivey Asia, accepted the award on behalf of the School at the awards ceremony and CCBC AGM and Policy Conference in Montreal. The event was attended by David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, as well as other dignitaries. More at...   Ivey Summer Business Program  A pre-university program on business fundamentals for young adults offered at Ivey's campus in Hong Kong. Taught by Ivey faculty from Canada, the course is delivered using Ivey's renowned case method, which challenges students to learn by doing, within an active class environment. The experience allows students to learn business fundamentals in finance, marketing, organizational behaviour and general management.  Click here to download the program leaflet.    Ivey Ph.D. graduate appointed Dean of Nottingham University Business School in China Dr. Carl Fey (Ph.D. 1997), a professor of international business, has been appointed Dean of the Nottingham University Business School in Ningbo, China, home to nearly 3000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Fey, who served on the executive board of the International Association of Chinese Management Research, focuses his research, teaching, and consulting on how management practices need to be adapted to be successful in China and Russia. His areas of expertise include foreign market entry, leadership, organisational culture, change management, knowledge transfer, and mergers and acquisitions.   Ivey doctoral awarded Post Graduate Research Fellowship by the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada Michael Roberts, a Ph.D. candidate in general management at Ivey, is among the five new Post Graduate Research Fellows for 2011-12 announced by the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. Roberts has extensive knowledge of South Korea, and will further develop his previous research on international returnees and the capturing of foreign knowledge by multi-national enterprises in emerging markets.    Institute Director joins National Conversation on Asia's Futures Group on Asia  Institute Director was invited to join Asia Pacific Foundations of Canada’s (APFC) Futures Group on Asia. The group, in support of the APFC ’s National Conversation on Asia (NCA) initiative, will provide thought leadership in the development of innovative Canadian policy responses to the rise of Asia and to help Canadians develop a fuller appreciation of Asia’s significance for Canada’s future prosperity.   Ivey Professor celebrates research feat Paul Beamish, an award-winning researcher at Ivey, has reached a milestone in his publishing career. Beamish has just had his 100th research paper accepted for publication. The paper, “Geographic and Product Diversification in Charitable Organizations,” co-authored with Ivey PhD graduates Geoff Kistruck of Ohio State University and Israr Qureshi of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, will be published in the Journal of Management in 2011. In addition to learning his 100th paper would be published, Beamish also had his 50th book published and saw the graduation of the 25th PhD student he has supervised, all in 2010. With no plans to slow down, Beamish has another dozen or so articles in review. “I’m as curious as ever about how things work and still enjoy the research process,” he said. An Ivey faculty member since 1987, Beamish also holds the Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in International Management and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Academy of International Business and Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada.   Former Minister of International Trade Discusses Game-Changing Strategies for Global Business Game-changing economic and political upheaval signal the need for new styles of international business leadership. The full summary and case studies published by the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada can be accessed here.   Ivey alumnus co-founder of India-Canada Alumni Network (ICAN) IAA India Chapter president Parag Saigaonkar (MBA'94) and ICAN co-founder Vinay Chaudhry (MBA'04) were present in New Delhi for the official launch of the India-Canada Alumni Network on November 9, 2010.  ICAN is organized by Canadian alumni in India and supported by the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi.
