Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he's ready to strengthen ties between his country and China.
Trudeau has made the comments during a brief meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in Beijing.
Li Keqiang says China is ready to work with the new Canadian government to create a new era of development.
Meanwhile, speaking with Chinese entrepreneurs, Trudeau has revealed his government is looking at the possibility of joining the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
Trudeau is on an 8-day visit to China, his first official visit to the country since taking office on November.
It comes 43 years after his father, Pierre Trudeau, became the first Canadian prime minister to visit China.
Apart from Beijing, Justin Trudeau is due to attend the G20 Summit in Hangzhou next week.
He's also due to make stops in Shanghai and Hong Kong.
For more on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's visit to China, CRI's Xu Qinduo spoke earlier with Canada's Ambassador to China, Guy Saint-Jacques. |
