- Premier Alison Redford has reached agreements with two leading business development organizations based in China that will strengthen Alberta-China relations while providing exciting international work opportunities for Alberta graduates.

China National Petroleum Corporation-Alberta Petroleum Centre (CAPC) and Canada China Business Council (CCBC) have signed agreements with the Alberta Abroad program that will see the China-based organizations move forward on becoming host organizations. Alberta Abroad will provide talented young Albertans with the opportunity to work in international organizations through short-term work opportunities called externships.

“I’m very pleased that young Albertans will have the opportunity to gain work experience in China, one of the fastest growing economies in the world,” said Premier Redford. “They will gain valuable skills while also helping to deepen Alberta and China’s dynamic cultural and economic relationship.”

“We’re so pleased the Honourable Premier Alison Redford has presented us the opportunity to be a part of the Alberta Abroad program. It will be our pleasure to host an Alberta graduate who can give us a new perspective on Alberta,” said Han Hua, Managing Director of CAPC.

“The benefits of this unique and innovative program are two-fold,” said Peter Harder, President of the Canada China Business Council. “Graduates gain valuable experience working abroad and our organization is able to tap into the skills and knowledge of these post-secondary students that we may not have had access to.”

CNPC-Alberta Petroleum Centre (CAPC) is a service organization jointly funded and operated by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and the Government of Alberta. CCBC is a private sector, non-profit organization incorporated in 1978 to facilitate and promote trade and investment between Canada and the Peoples’ Republic of China.
