Pro-Communist Chinese Group Plays Anti-US Propaganda Song During Xi Florida Visit

Hundreds of pro-Chinese Communist Party (CCP) nationalists gathered on April 7 outside of the Eau Palm Beach Resort in Manalapan, Florida, where Chinese leader Xi Jinping is staying during his visit in the United States to meet with President Donald Trump for bilateral talks.
Wearing red and waving large communist party flags, the group used speakers to play a variety of nationalistic songs, including one containing anti-American propaganda.
The song, “My Motherland,” is the theme song for the Chinese 1956 war propaganda film “Battle on Shangganling Mountain,” which idolizes Chinese communist soldiers fighting against American troops during the Korean War.

The conflict was fought by communists in the north of the Korean peninsula, allied with Chinese communist forces, against a coalition of South Korean and international troops, including over 300,000 American troops, at its peak.
The song’s lyrics refer to U.S. troops as invading “wolves” and says, “if the ravenous wolves come, those greeting them have hunting guns.”
“My Motherland” has generated controversy in the past when Lang Lang, a prominent Chinese concert pianist, played the song at a White House state dinner when Chinese leader Hu Jintao met with President Barack Obama in 2011.

Targeting Persecuted Groups

The pro-communist nationalists also obstructed a peaceful protest by adherents of Falun Gong, a traditional Chinese spiritual practice which has been brutally suppressed in mainland China since 1999.
Falun Gong practitioners were calling for an end to the ongoing persecution as well as for justice to be served to former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin, who launched the nationwide campaign against Falun Gong in 1999. Researchers estimate that hundreds of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been killed at the hands of Chinese authorities for their organs.
According to several eyewitnesses, the pro-communist protesters tried to obstruct the banners of the Falun Gong protesters by using large communist party flags to block them just as China’s Xi was driving by.
This is a tactic that has been used before during other visits by Xi and other high level Chinese officials to the United States.
