Nearly 200,000 pounds of P.F. Chang frozen meals recalled by USDA

The USDA warned that 195,597 pounds of P.F. Chang's frozen chicken and beef entrées may be contaminated with pieces of metal. A recall was issued Friday (July 15). The entrées include P.F. Chang's spicy chicken, Mongolian-style beef and General Chang's chicken.

The sauce for the frozen meals, according to an USDA press release, may contain "metal fragments that range in size between 2 and 9 millimeters in diameter, and are curled, malleable and shiny."

All the recalled frozen items, produced by ConAgra Food in Russellville, Ark., are marked "EST. 233" or "EST. P-115" inside the USDA inspection mark.

The recall is a Class I recall, which means "a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death."

So far, no one has been injured by the contaminated food.
