IOC President Thomas Bach met Chinese
Supervisory Minister Huang Shu Xian at the
IOC headquarters in Lausanne and agreed a
number of new steps in the fight against
corruption.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chinese Minister commented: “We appreciate the International Olympic Committee’s determination to live up to the values of sport and to protect the integrity of sport. Together we will step up the fight against corruption in sport. We look forward to working together to help deliver great Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022.”

The Minister outlined a number of new steps the Chinese government is taking in cooperation with the Chinese National Olympic Committee to prevent corruption and ensure clean Olympic Games.

Speaking at the meeting, the IOC President appreciated the efforts and achievements of China in fighting against corruption. He congratulated the Minister on the great work being done with regard to the Olympic Winter Games by the Chinese authorities in terms of openness and transparency. “We both have the same interests to have clean sport free of corruption. I welcome this new important step in the cooperation with the IOC and, I appreciate very much that the Chinese government and the Chinese NOC are cooperating closely to fight corruption in relation to the organisation of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022.

During the meeting, the two leaders also agreed to continue their cooperation to address the issue of corruption in sport and in such a way to support the credibility of sport and the Olympic Games.

The IOC President also invited China to take part in a meeting of the International
Sport Integrity Partnership alongside the International Forum for Sport Integrity in Lausanne in early 2017. The IOC’s initiative was already welcomed in the closing declaration of the International Anti-Corruption Summit organised by British Prime Minister David Cameron last Thursday in London.
