Organized crime may be behind triple shooting: police
CALGARY – An investigation is underway after a shooting on Thursday night that left one man dead and two others injured.
It happened just before 9:00 p.m. at 19 Avenue and 5A Street S.W., near Western Canada High School.
Police found a male victim dead inside a black rental car when they arrived. A man and a woman, both 22, were rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds.
The female is listed in critical, unstable condition, while the male is in stable condition. Investigators say the male survivor is not cooperating with them.
The man who died has been identified, but police are still working to locate next of kin so they’re not releasing his name.
“We believe they left the Lower Mainland, maybe the Surrey area last weekend, and arrived in Calgary at that location only a few hours before this event,” says S/Sgt. Grant Miller from the Calgary Police Service, adding the three victims were friends.

Police were door-knocking throughout the night, speaking with witnesses who heard the gunshots, and HAWCS helicopter and K9 units were called in to search for the shooter.
Investigators don’t yet have a suspect in custody, but say they don’t believe the shooting was random.
“This does look like a targeted attack, so it does look like organized crime issues could be involved.”
Police are also trying to determine where the victims have been, since leaving B.C. last weekend.
This case is Calgary’s 20th homicide of the year.
