Mingdong Chen is taken from the 66th precinct after being charged in the murders of his cousin's family.

A 25-year-old Chinese transient told cops he brutally killed his cousin's wife and four children with a meat cleaver because he wasn’t happy with his life, a police source said.
Mingdong Chen, who came to the United States in 2004, made incriminating statements to cops about the bloody Brooklyn massacre, the source said Sunday.
"He made statements implicating himself,” the source said. “He said other people are doing better than him. He was pretty much upset that his lot in life wasn't that great.”
Qiao Zhen Li, 37, and her children Linda Zhuo, 9; Amy Zhuo, 7; Kevin Zhuo, 5; and William Zhuo, 1, died in the attack Saturday night.
Chen, who speaks no English and talked to cops through a Mandarin translator, was charged with five counts of both first-degree murder and second-degree murder, cops said.
Chen said "since he’s been in the country, everyone seems to be doing better than him," said NYPD Chief of Department Phillip Banks, adding Chen was "bouncing around" and had only been staying with the family for eight to ten days.
Police continue to investigate the home of Qiao Zhen Li, who was killed along with her four children by her husband’s cousin.

Police continue to investigate the home of Qiao Zhen Li, who was killed along with her four children by her husband’s cousin.

Chen’s last known address was in Chicago, police said.
The father of the children was not at the family’s apartment on 57th St. near Ninth Ave. in Brooklyn when the mayhem broke out.
Qiao Zhen Li tried to call her husband to complain that Chen was acting suspicious but couldn’t reach him, cops said. She then called his mother in China, who called a daughter-in-law in Brooklyn.
The daughter-in-law and her husband went to the apartment to check on the family.
"They bang on the door,” Banks said. “At some point he opens the door and they see that he is covered with blood."
The family members called 911 around 10:45 p.m. and detectives arrested Chen at the home.
According to a source, Li’s husband’s cousin had been out of work before coming to live with the family in New York.

According to a source, Li’s husband’s cousin had been out of work before coming to live with the family in New York.

The bodies of the mom and her 5-year-old son were found in the kitchen. The other three children were found dead in a back bedroom.
All of them had wounds to their necks, a police source said. The butcher’s knife was located in the kitchen.
Xiaowe Yang, 31, said she spoke to a cousin of Li, who told her the mother recently tried to kick her husband's cousin out of the house.
"She told him to go home," Yang said. "The guy is very poor. He had no home. He had no place to live when he came to New York. She told him, 'You just leave my house.'"
Family members were overwhelmed with grief when they heard about what happened.
"He lived with them. He's crazy," Gao Yun, 29, who identified herself as Qiao Zhen Li’s cousin, said through a translator. "He came here illegally from China. He was living with them. He's not stable."
Li’s children ranged in age from from 1 to 9 years old. Her husband was not home at the time of the murders.

Li’s children ranged in age from from 1 to 9 years old. Her husband was not home at the time of the murders.

Yun said the man had a job at a restaurant out of state about two weeks ago until he was fired.
"I think he was cooking," she said. "He is crazy."
Neighbor Amy Chang, 15, said she heard the sirens and ran out to see first responders trying to save the little boy.
"He was wearing yellow pajamas," she said. "He was bloody. They were trying to help him. But he wasn't moving...To kill a kid, it's the worst."
Chen, who had no criminal record in New York, has stayed in various places throughout the city since coming to the country and may have stayed with the family before, cops said.
