Police believe Richmond man may have been killed

Missing man Steven Yip

Homicide investigators are asking for the public’s help to find out what happened to missing Richmond resident Kiem Cuong (Steven) Yip.
Yip’s concerned family called police Monday saying he had not been seen nor heard from since April 20.
“Due to evidence and information received to date, Mr. Yip’s disappearance is suspicious in nature and investigators believe he has met with foul play,” Sgt. Jennifer Pound, of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, said in a news release.
“Missing person investigations, where foul play is suspected, are part of IHIT’s mandate.”
She said she couldn’t provide details of why police believe Yip has been killed “so as to protect the investigation.”
Yip is described as 45, 5’6”, 130 lbs, with a slim build, brown eyes and short dark hair.
Pound also said investigators are looking for Yip’s vehicle – a grey 2003 Toyota Corolla 4 door sedan bearing BC licence plate 712TTH.
Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT tipline at 1-877-551-4448.
